'Where the Crawdads Sing' film adaptation is out now

The film adaptation of Delia Owens’ 2018 novel Where the Crawdads Sing is playing in cinemas now.

The story follows Catherine ‘Kya’ Clark who is played by Daisy Edgar Jones (Normal People). Set in the 1950s in North Carolina, the film follows Kya as she is abandoned as a child and forced to fend for herself in the marsh. When a young man is later found dead, suspicion falls on Kya and she is put on trial for first-degree murder.

The book was written by Delia Owens when she was 69 and developed into a bestseller after it was selected for Reese Witherspoon’s book club. Reese Witherspoon has gone on to produce the film, and it’s directed by First Match’s Olivia Newman and adapted by Beasts of the Southern Wild’s Lucy Alibar.
