Sydney Writers' Festival announces 2021 Program

The Sydney Writers' Festival have announced their 2021 program, which will run in person at Carriageworks, Sydney from Monday 26 April to Sunday 2 May.

Under the theme 'Within Reach', the program features over 231 live events with over 400 Australia-based and 15 international guests. Miles Franklin winners Melissa Lucashenko and Tara June Winch, alongside poet Evelyn Auraluen, will open the festival with a talk reflecting on 'what writing has brought within their reach, the writers who preceded them and the new ground they hope to break’.

International guests include Journalist Jonathan Swan, and authors Behrouz Boochani Kazuo Ishiguro, Judy Blume, Bill Hayes and Rachael Kusk.

Also featuered is a new series titled 'Your Favourites' Favourites', where established authors interview the authors behind their favourite debuts of 2020. Interviews include Christos Tsiolkas with Jessie Tu (of A Lonely Girl is a Dangerous Thing), Melissa Lucashenko with Adam Thompson (of Born Into This),  and Tony Birch with Evelyn Araluen (of Dropbear).

Other sessions include Richard Flanagan with Laura Tingle, Stan Grant with Thoas Keneally, James Bradley with Kim Stanley Robinson, Anita Heiss with Meg Keneally, Andrew Denton with Michael Robotham, and Bruce Pascoe with Vicky Shukuroglou.
