Say goodbye to sleep: Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has a new trailer

After being announced over 6 years ago we've finally got our first glimpse of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark adaption. Directed by André Øvredal and produced by Guillermo del Toro, the film is based on the series of the same name written by Alvin Schartz and illustrated by Stephen Gammell.

Adapting stories from folklore and urban legends, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is notorious for scaring the pants off kids, thanks mostly to the surreal and ghoulish illustrations. The three-book series can be thanked (or blamed) for introducing a lot of kids to horror and urban legends - and probably for giving them a lot of nightmares as well.

With an old-school creepy atmosphere and monsters based off Stephen Gammell's original designs, the film looks like it'll be a treat for original fans and newcomers alike. It's due for an August release in the US, with an Australian release date to be announced soon.
