Celebrate anpernirrentye at this year's Northern Territory Writers' Festival, August 26-29

The full program for the 2021 Northern Territory Writers' Festival has been announced, ecompassing four days of books, words, performance and more from 26-29 August.

The theme of this year's festival is anpernirrentye - everything is connected. This draws upon the Arrernte relationship system, which tells us the ways everything is connected, from animals, land, people, language and culture. Founded in 1999, the NTWF aims to emphasise Australia's cultural and linguistic diversity, bringing people together to share language, culture and story.

Among the guests are Laura Jean McKay, whose debut novel The Animals in That Country recenty took out the 2021 Victorian Prize for Literature. Other authors include Omar Sakr, author of The Lost Arabs, Karen Rogers, author of Main Abija - My Grandad, and Mark McKenna, author of Return to Uluru. Craig Silvey, Alice Pung, Nardi Simpson and Rick Morton are also among the writers featuring.
