Netflix releases trailer for film adaptation of 'Blonde'

Netflix has released the trailer for Blonde which is based on Joyce Carol Oates’ 2000 novel of the same name which provides a moving portrait of Marilyn Monroe.

The novel gives the reader an intimate look at the life of Norma Jean Baker and the events that shaped her into a cultural icon of the 20th century – from her fractured personal relationships to her own struggle with her identity.

The film is scheduled for release on Netflix on 23 September and stars Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe. Andrew Dominik (Killing Them Softly) is directing the film, and Oates has given her approval, saying: ‘Andrew Dominik is a very brilliant director. I think he succeeded in showing the experience of Norma Jeane Baker from her perspective, rather than see it from the outside, the male gaze looking at a woman. He immersed himself in her perspective.’
