John le Carré's final novel, Silverview, is being published in October

John le Carré's publisher Viking has announced they will be posthumously publishing the author's final novel, Silverview, this October. The novel was completed prior to his death last December, and has the author's full blessing for release.

Best known as the author of espionage thrillers like The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and Tonker Tailor Soldier Spy, le Carré passed away of pneumonia, 89. Before his death he had finished a manuscript of what would become Silverview, and had been writing two other books - A Legacy of Spies and Agent Running in the Field.

Silverview follows bookshop owner Julian Lawndsley who is visited by a Polish émigré from Silverview, a large house on the edge of the small English seaside town Julian's bookshop resides in. Soon, a London spy chief is warned of an intelligence leak, and his investigations lead him to Julian and his idyllic seaside bookshop.

In Australia the novel will be published by Penguin on 14 October 2021 - the week that would be le Carré's 90th birthday. The cover is yet to be announced, but the book is available for preorder now.
