Jacqueline Harvey's bestselling Alice-Miranda books are being made into an animated movie

Production has begun on an animated drama-comedy telemovie, Alice-Miranda Shines Bright, based on the bestelling series of children's books by Jaqueline Harvey. The series, which has sold over 850,000 copies in Australia and 1,000,000 internationally, is being turned into an 80minute television film which will premiere locally on Nine Network.

Jo Rooney, co-head of drama at Nine said: ‘We know that Alice-Miranda has a great following with young readers and Jacqueline Harvey is one of Australia’s top female children’s authors. We believe all the right ingredients are in place for this dynamic, quality Australian children’s drama to be a huge success.’

SLR Productions is run by an all-female creative team and according to Sally Caplan, head of content and Screen Australia, they have crafted ‘a smart and inquisitive protagonist in Alice-Miranda that young girls can look up to.’

After premiering on Nine Network, the show will be distributed internationally to the UK, North America, Germany, Brazil, Hungary, Turkey and Indonesia.
