Publisher announces book release about the Thai cave rescue

Publisher, Penguin Random House, has announced it will publish Into the Dark, The Dramatic Story of the Thai Cave Rescue by Dr Craig Challen, Dr Richard Harris and Coach Ekkapol Chantawong downunder in late 2019.

For 17 days in June and July this year, the world watched and held its breath as 12 young soccer players from the Wild Boar soccer team and their coach were trapped deep in a cave in Thailand.

Marooned there under water following a freak storm, they were rescued, one-by-one, against almost impossible odds by two Australian doctors who were also expert divers.

Now, for the first time, the lead players in this breath-taking exploit will describe it in their own voices. Into the Dark will present, in alternating first person narratives, the personal experiences of divers D. Challen and Dr Harris, alternating with the account of Coach Chantawong and the boys from inside the cave, as the harrowing ordeal played out, day by day.

Universal Pictures, which acquired the life rights of the coach, the Wild Boar soccer team and the two divers, has optioned feature film rights.
