Clive Barker's Books of Blood is getting a movie adaptation

Clive Barker's classic 80s horror anthology Books of Blood is getting the small screen treatment courtesy of The Orville and Star Trek writer Brannon Braga.

Books of Blood is the collection of short stories that put Clive Barker on the map, resulting in legendary film adaptations such as 1992's Candyman.

The adaptation looks to be in capable hands; Brannon Braga has written more episodes of the Star Trek franchise than any other writer. a feat he received an Emmy Nomination for. Adam Simon, writer on Salem and The Haunting in Conneticut among many other cult classic horror films, is also on board.

The 2020 film adaptation will be Brannon Braga's directorial debut, and will combine the short stories with original material to tell 'three uncanny tales tangled in space and time.' Anna Friel, Britt Robertson, Rafi Gavron and Yul Vasquez are set to star in the feature-length film, with more to be announced soon.

Anna Friel plays Mary, a psychologist who, following the death of her son, meets Simon (Gavron), a 'ghost-whisperer' who convinces her she can speak with her dead child. Britt Robertson plays Jenna, a young girl suffering from hypersensitivity to sound who, upon learning her mother is planning to abandon her, steals her cash and sets out to Los Angeles. Yul Vasques plays Bennett, a professional hitman whose latest job leads him to a mysterious book that may allow him and his wife to retire; in finding the book, he stumbles upon a supernatural world.
