Turn the page on literary disadvantage with Booktober!

WestWords has announced a brand new annual event called Booktober, which aims to overcome literary disadvantage in the greater Western Sydney region.

During Booktober, participants (affectionately known as Bookworms) can decide how many books they will read during October, and opt-in to raise funds to support WestWords providing books and literacy programs to disadvantaged schools in greater Western Sydney.

WestWords is a not-for-profit charity working across greater Western Sydney that works closely with writers and artists to celebrate the people, places and cultures that are at the heart of Western Sydney.

WestWords ambassador Bryan Brown is calling on people to 'get involved in this special initiative that will help raise funds for kids who don't have the opportunity to read books.'

You were probably planning to read some books in October already, right? So why not do it for a good cause?  Head to the Booktober website for all the pertinent details.
