Booker Prize announce 2019 shortlist

The shortlist for the 2019 Booker Prize has been announced, recognising six noteworthy fiction releases from the past year. 

Among the shortlist are two previous Booker Prize winners; Margaret Atwood for The Testaments, the heavily anticipated sequel to her dystopian bestseller The Handmaid's Tale, and Salman Rushdie for Quichotte, his reworking of the comedic epic Don Quixote

The winner will be announced on 14 October. Check out the full shortist below!

  • Ducks, Newburyport (Lucy Ellmann, Text, September)
  • Girl, Woman, Other (Bernardine Evaristo, Hamish Hamilton)
  • An Orchestra of Minorities (Chigozie Obioma, Abacus)
  • Quichotte (Salman Rushdie, Jonathan Cape, September)
  • 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World (Elif Shafak, Viking).
