2019 Booker Prize longlist announced

The Booker Prize has announed the 2019 longlist - also known as the 'Booker Dozen' - recognising 13 of the most noteworthy books published in the UK between October 2018 and September 2019. 

Among the longlist is the highly anticipated sequel to The Handmaid's TaleThe Testaments, the details of which are being kept under wraps until its September release. One of the 2019 prize judges, Peter Hay, said the novel was "terrifying and exhilarating" - so that's something at least! 

The shortlist is to be announced Tuesday 3 September, and the 2019 winner is to be announced Monday 14 October. In the meantime, take a peek at the longlist below:
