The Bright Lands by John Fram
Like a quarterback throwing five touchdowns on debut (or a rugby player scoring five tries), with The Bright Lands Fram announces himself as a thriller writer to watch. There’s lyricism in his writing as he melds Gothic touches, LGBT+ issues, and rural noir. A seasoning of supernatural doesn’t spoil things; Fram shows a fine touch ala the thrillers of John Connolly or Michael Koryta. An atmospheric and excellent tale.
