Final Cut: They tried to hide the truth. But the camera never lies... by S J Watson
Complex psychological thrillers seem to be all the rage at the moment, and this one looks at the darkness that is hidden in an isolated English village. Alex is a documentary film maker seeking a fresh opportunity. Her first film was a hit, others less so – she seems to have lost her mojo and is seeking inspiration. She is working with a producer to make a film about a small village, where people shoot their own video of their everyday lives, when an anonymous postcard arrives from Blackwood Bay suggesting it as the perfect spot. It is a small Yorkshire coastal village, seemingly ideal, but it is a place where Alex has a murky history and an unsettling past she would rather keep quiet. Several girls have gone missing over the last 10 years, one of them is believed to have committed suicide.
