Scars Like Wings by Erin Stewart
I really enjoyed this book, as it wasn’t just a regular survivor style story. There were more layers to it than that. I feel as if the characters were developed well, and you could understand how their past had made them who they were in the present. The ending of the book was left semi-open, and, at first, I wasn’t a fan of this style, but since finishing the book I feel as if it perfectly fits the ideas portrayed throughout the story. I loved watching Ava develop as a character and person, and to see her growth from beginning to end. Overall, it was missing some elements that I love reading about in YA fiction, but still many moments throughout had me smiling, crying and laughing.
